Role of Library and Library Professionals :Today and Tomorrow

Abstract  – The 21st century will be the age of paperless society. The advancement of Information and communication Technology has brought a lot of changes on library and information services and also on the roles of the libraries and information professionals. The new technologies have facilitated the transformation of data into digital publishing the libraries are going from traditional to digital format with the arrival of digital publishing; the libraries are going from traditional to digital epoch. At present, like demand of digital information is increasing on desktop. The article focuses on the role of library professionals and libraries in these days. It also highlights the library of old age, challenging and changing role of new technologies, current Trend in library in IT environment and required skills for library professionals in the 21st century.
