Bibliometric Analysis of Global Research Trends in the ChatGPT Literature

Abstract: Recent years have seen an explosion of research in Natural Language Processing (NLP). Among the most popular recent innovations is OpenAI's ChatGPT. Bibliometric analyses of ChatGPT's scholarly contributions are becoming increasingly important as it continues to develop. This paper presents a bibliometric overview of 16,862 scholarly works on ChatGPT, spanning its inception through 2025. It analyses research productivity, author visibility, citations, keyword co-occurrence, and journal and author productivity. Data were collected from the Web of Science Core Collection and analyzed using Microsoft Excel and VOSviewer.
