Author(s):  Dr. Somnath Mudda & Anuradha Rajkumar Wadgave

Abstract - This paper examines the evolving role of libraries in contemporary society, highlighting their transformation from traditional repositories of books to dynamic, multifaceted information hubs. Libraries have adapted to the virtual age by integrating technology, increasing access to virtual sources, and promoting digital literacy. As social establishments, libraries assist lifelong learning, cultural upkeep, and civic engagement. They play a crucial role in education, information dissemination, and social development, especially for underserved groups. The interdependence between libraries and society is emphasised, illustrating how each impacts and forms the other.
