Abstract - The employment landscape for Library and Information Science (LIS) professionals in India has evolved significantly due to technological advancements and the growing demand for information management. This research paper examines employment trends and patterns based on a detailed analysis of job advertisements published in Employment News from 2017 to 2020. The research identifies 518 job advertisements corresponding to 1,510 vacancies related to the LIS field, revealing a steady demand for LIS professionals. The study highlights emerging job roles, job nomenclature inconsistencies, and institution pay scale variations. Additionally, the findings indicate that academic/ educational institutions remain the largest employers in the LIS field. The insights drawn can assist policymakers, educators, and aspiring LIS professionals in understanding career prospects and industry expectations.
