Abstract  – This study examined the relationship between media resource utilisation and lecturers' productivity at three premier federal universities in South-West Nigeria: University of Ibadan, University of Lagos, and Obafemi Awolowo University. A descriptive survey design was employed with 845 lecturers sampled through multi-stage sampling from the three institutions across faculties of Sciences, Engineering, and Social Sciences. A validated questionnaire was used for data collection, with 812 (96.1%) responses considered adequate for analysis. Findings revealed a high level of lecturer productivity (Mean = 3.18, SD = 0.89) across the three institutions. Electronic media resources ranked highest in availability (Mean = 3.21) compared to print resources (Mean = 3.15) and non-print resources (Mean = 2.97). Print resources, particularly textbooks, were utilised most frequently (63.2% daily usage), followed by electronic resources such as the internet (61.8% daily usage). Media resources were primarily utilised for preparing lecture notes (94.1%), research and publications (92.7%), and obtaining general knowledge (87.3%). A positive significant relationship was established between media resource utilisation and lecturer productivity (r = 0.441, p < 0.001), indicating that improved media resource access and utilisation would enhance lecturer productivity in teaching, research, and community service. The study recommends that university management strengthen policies promoting media resource provision, equip libraries with modern facilities, and encourage lecturers to engage with diverse information sources for optimal academic output.
